The 500-piece puzzle features an image on display at the V&A exhibition Constantinople to Istanbul: One City, Two Empires; a vibrant painted and glazed tile from the Çinili hamam, or tiled bathhouse, in Istanbul, created in Iznik, Turkey, in the 1530s. A wonderful way to while away an afternoon, the puzzle is a perfect introduction to the complex and historic design language of the region.
Iznik pottery refers to glazed ceramics produced primarily in Iznik in Anatolia, a cultural history originating during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. Known for its meticulous underglaze decoration technique and luminous colour palette, Iznik pottery commonly features the signature hues of deep cobalt blue, vibrant turquoise, emerald green and Armenian bole red.
