The vibrant colours and beautiful sounds of a Turkish coffee house are brought to life in this watercolour, with musicians seated on patterned cushions playing together against the backdrop of the mighty Bosphorus Strait.
The coffee house has long been central to Turkish culture, introduced to the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century and enduring as a venue for the exchange of ideas, scientific concepts and philosophical debates. The rich communal traditions and unique preparation and brewing techniques of the kahvehane, or coffee house, were recognised by UNESCO for their cultural significance in 2013.
Created in Istanbul in 1846, the original watercolour is the work of French artist Frédéric Goupil-Fesquet, who visited Turkey and the surrounding regions in around 1840, taking early photographs of famous sites and faraway lands.
The highest-quality materials have been used to create this museum-standard print. The giclée printing process captures fine detail and provides archival longevity; inks have been carefully selected to best reproduce the tones of the original artwork, with a superior finish and lifelong vibrancy. Textured fine art paper complements the printing process to enhance the visual appeal and create a tactile quality in the finished piece.

Each artwork is giclée printed using archival quality inks.

We use clear acrylic glazing for safety and longevity.
FRAMING:
Framed by hand in Sussex by skilled craftsmen using responsibly sourced materials, the finished product has a taped back and is supplied ready to hang.

Each print is carefully packaged to ensure safe transportation, using 100% recyclable materials.
