A bright star shines in the night sky, offering guidance to a traveller. Selected from the V&A collection to echo the imagery associated with the nativity story, the design for this Christmas card is adapted from a tarot card depicting Stella (The Star); the golden star symbolises hope, divine guidance and celestial inspiration.
The Visconti-Sforza deck is one of the oldest surviving tarot decks in the world, created in Italy in around 1450 for the court of the Duke of Milan. The artwork is formerly attributed to Antonio Cicognara, an Italian painter remembered for his religious art and illuminated manuscripts.
Each pack contains 8 cards and envelopes. The cards are blank inside, ready for you to add a message of good tidings to send to loved ones this Christmas.
