A hero of the festive dinner table, this classic Christmas pudding will last the whole Yuletide season. The plump ceramic pudding, topped with brandy sauce and a traditional sprig of holly, with a loop of ribbon attached and ready to hang, will bring a cute and colourful twist to your Christmas tree.
Christmas pudding as we know it today came to prominence in the Victorian era. Dried fruits were mixed with suet, flour and eggs, and boiled in a cloth to be served with a sweet custard. The pudding would be eaten by rich and poor alike; Queen Victoria’s chief cook, Charles Elmé Francatelli, published his recipe for a classic royal plum pudding in 1845 for the public to enjoy.
