The delicate spiral of a seashell has been exquisitely embroidered by hand to create this sumptuous decoration. A novel addition to your Christmas collection, the plush velvet shell is adorned with golden threads and delicate beads applied by skilled artisans to create a stylish decoration with a touch of the surreal.
The decoration is made using the traditional method of zardozi embroidery, zar meaning gold and dozi meaning sewing; the ornate craft of hand embroidery with metallic threads originated in Persia, reaching India in the 12th century, and is still practised across the subcontinent.
St. Nicolas is a small London-based brand dedicated to designing original, interesting and meaningful keepsakes. The company has worked with a family-run business in Northern India since 1999, creating Fair Trade decorations using the ancient zardozi embroidery technique.
