Step into the court gardens of an Ottoman palace with this exquisite Iznik tile. A blue flower blooms at the centre of the design, surrounded by tulips and floral patterns. Made in Turkey, the tile could serve as a standalone accent piece or to create a fully tiled space: an enchanting choice for a bathroom or a colourful update to a kitchen.
The central motif reproduces the Hatai; a popular motif in Iznik designs, named after the historical region of Hatay (Northern China/Turkestan), it is a mystical, fairy-tale bud embodies vital energy, eternal renewal, and secrets hidden deep within the human heart. The "Saz Yolu" (Enchanted Reed Path) style was created by the great court artist Şahkulu in the 16th century. It is characterized by curving, long, pointed feather-like leaves (saz) and fantastical flowers. It is a symbol of nature's untamed power, dynamic movement, and the infinite intertwining of human destinies.
Iznik pottery refers to glazed ceramics produced primarily in Iznik in Anatolia, a cultural history originating during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. Known for its meticulous underglaze decoration technique and luminous colour palette, Iznik pottery commonly features the signature hues of deep cobalt blue, vibrant turquoise, emerald green and Armenian bole red.
