The opulent interior of a Constantinople coffee house is captured in exquisite detail in this beautiful watercolour. Patrons relax in the ornate, carved and painted room, enjoying the rich coffee and the opportunity to meet with friends, listen to storytellers, savour the music or smoke a pipe and relax, the air cooled by decorative fountains.
English architect, artist and topographical illustrator Thomas Allom visited Istanbul in the 1830s and produced hundreds of drawings during his journey, capturing scenes long since lost from Istanbul's ever-evolving landscape. Decorated in the Rococo style and built of wood, this coffeehouse is typical of the period; owing to frequent fires in the city, it is doubtful that any example of a 19th-century coffeehouse remains.
The highest-quality materials have been used to create this museum-standard print. The giclée printing process captures fine detail and provides archival longevity; inks have been carefully selected to best reproduce the tones of the original artwork, with a superior finish and lifelong vibrancy; textured fine art paper complements the printing process to enhance the visual appeal and create a tactile quality in the finished piece.

We use fine art paper sourced from UK paper mills for our prints. The paper type has been chosen to best suit the original artwork, selected among one of the following:
• 300gsm textured fine art paper for paintings and illustrations;
• Semi-gloss 250gsm premium lustre photo satin paper for photographic reproductions;
• 280gsm smooth matte fine art paper for images of objects.
Each artwork is giclée printed using archival quality inks.
Acid free, extra thick smooth white mount board with a white core.
We use 90% UV-protected acrylic glazing for safety and longevity. Cast acrylic is a high-quality material, offering many benefits including 92% optical clarity. It protects prints from light damage and bleaching and is also shatter-resistant, making it much safer than glass in your home or workplace, and it is lighter weight for easier, safer hanging.
Framed by hand in Sussex by skilled craftsmen using responsibly sourced materials, every frame is made to order with solid ash and is supplied ready to hang. In every framed order, we include the right strap hangers, metal D-rings, and wall plugs so you can decorate your walls the moment your prints arrive.
The finished product has a taped eco-friendly backing board, made with 61% recycled content and 100% recyclable.
Each print is carefully packaged to ensure safe transportation, using 100% recyclable materials.

Thomas Allom
Architect, artist and topographical illustrator Thomas Allom, a founding member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, designed many buildings in London, including assisting in the plans for the Houses of Parliament. Born in Lambeth in 1804, Allom travelled widely, exploring the British Isles and mainland Europe before setting sail for distant shores on a tour of the Levant and the Ottoman Empire. His detailed landscapes were published in various travel books, creating a fascinating resource that offered valuable insight into the area's architecture and aesthetic language.
