The Galata Tower soars over a bustling city scene: elegantly dressed pedestrians cross the iron bridge, many holding parasols for shade under the hot sun, while wooden boats pass along the Bosphorus Strait below.
This atmospheric vista was captured by Pascal Sébah, a photographer born in Istanbul in 1823. Sébah is best known for his prolific work in Anatolia, Greece and Egypt, primarily producing photographs to be sold to tourists as souvenirs.
The original photograph is an albumen print, a process that replaced the earlier daguerreotypes, enabling photographers to produce sharp images from a negative on paper coated with egg whites and silver salts.
The highest-quality materials have been used to create this museum-standard print. The giclée printing process captures fine detail and provides archival longevity; inks have been carefully selected to accurately reproduce the tones of the photograph, with a superior finish and lifelong vibrancy. Premium photo satin paper has been chosen to best suit the original artwork.

We use fine art paper sourced from UK paper mills for our prints. The paper type has been chosen to best suit the original artwork, selected among one of the following:
• 300gsm textured fine art paper for paintings and illustrations;
• Semi-gloss 250gsm premium lustre photo satin paper for photographic reproductions;
• 280gsm smooth matte fine art paper for images of objects.
Each artwork is giclée printed using archival quality inks.
Acid free, extra thick smooth white mount board with a white core.
We use 90% UV-protected acrylic glazing for safety and longevity. Cast acrylic is a high-quality material, offering many benefits including 92% optical clarity. It protects prints from light damage and bleaching and is also shatter-resistant, making it much safer than glass in your home or workplace, and it is lighter weight for easier, safer hanging.
Framed by hand in Sussex by skilled craftsmen using responsibly sourced materials, every frame is made to order with solid ash and is supplied ready to hang. In every framed order, we include the right strap hangers, metal D-rings, and wall plugs so you can decorate your walls the moment your prints arrive.
The finished product has a taped eco-friendly backing board, made with 61% recycled content and 100% recyclable.
Each print is carefully packaged to ensure safe transportation, using 100% recyclable materials.

Pascal Sébah
Ottoman photographer Pascal Sébah was born in Istanbul in 1823 and opened his own photographic studio in the city in 1857 to capitalise on the tourist market for souvenir photographs; visitors could create their own albums of the sites they had toured. He produced thousands of images in Anatolia, Egypt and Greece, capturing landscapes, ancient ruins and architecture alongside portraits of local people and the traditional dress worn by different ethnic groups. Sebah’s mastery of light and shadow allowed him to create atmospheric images with a painterly depth that endure as a valuable record of this fascinating point in history.
