A deep blue blossom sits at the centre of an ancient tile, surrounded by spiralling tendrils, smaller buds and stylised leaves. A dark blue border of rosette motifs grounds the exquisite design. The original tile was created in Istanbul in the 1530s and can be seen on display in the Constantinople to Istanbul: One City, Two Empires exhibition.
The vibrant Iznik tile once adorned the walls of the Çinili hamam, or tiled bathhouse, in Istanbul. Known for its meticulous underglaze decoration technique and luminous colour palette, Iznik pottery commonly features the signature hues of deep cobalt blue, vibrant turquoise, emerald green and Armenian bole red.
Printed in the UK and supplied with a midnight blue mount, chosen to complement the pigments of the tile, this compact print is a perfect choice for a gallery wall or to add personality to a smaller space. Giclée printing captures fine detail and provides archival longevity, while the quality heavyweight paper holds rich, deep colours and gives a luxury, gallery-grade finish.
