This writing set features William Morris’ Strawberry Thief pattern, a symmetrical design featuring thrushes investigating a hedgerow in search of fruit. The pattern was designed in 1883 as a printed cotton furnishing textile. Morris was the central figure in the British Arts and Crafts movement, and a huge archive of his original designs is held at the V&A.
