Set against geometric shapes and floral forms, a characterful bird has been beautifully captured in this wood engraving, created by Paul Nash in 1925 and held in the V&A archive.
Nash is remembered for his surrealist landscapes and work as a war artist, and led a revival of the art of wood-engraving in his post-war years.
