Details
Mary Quant revolutionised women’s fashion. Her brand was synonymous with the vibrant, optimistic spirit of the 1960s; Quant popularised the mini skirt and became Britain’s best-known designer. This print shows Jean Shrimpton modelling a wool dress by Mary Quant in a photograph taken by John French in 1963. French was instrumental in recording London’s fashion boom in the 50s and 60s, and his impeccably lit photographs show Quant clothing at its finest. French’s archive is held at the V&A.
