As seen in the exhibition Japan: Myths to Manga, this tongue-in-cheek poster, illustrated in traditional ukiyo-e woodblock style, was used to advocate safety on public transport in Tokyo, 2017.
A sumptuously dressed courtesan, part of a bustling commuter crowd in modern-day Japan, risks walking onto the train tracks, enraptured by her mobile phone!
