Sir Ken Adam trained as an architect, before joining the film industry as a set designer. He made his mark designing the vibrant villain's lair for the James Bond classic Dr No (1962), attracting the attention of maverick film director Stanley Kubrick, who asked him to design the set for his Cold War comedy, Dr Strangelove (1964). This film looks at Adam's difficult but productive relationship with Kubrick.
This film was originally produced for the exhibition Cold War Modern: Design 1945 – 70, at the V&A South Kensington 25 September 2008 – 11 January 2009.
