“One of the most important outfits in a man's wardrobe is a tracksuit", says Priya Ahluwalia. We visited the fashion designer's studio to hear more about the Joy Track Set, a key piece from her 2021 'Liberation' collection, now acquired by the museum.
Priya Ahluwalia's fashion brand plays with historic menswear traditions in order to push the boundaries of a male wardrobe. The result – wearable garments that prioritise comfort and encourage men to experiment with colour and bold prints, often inspired by her own Nigerian and Indian heritage.
For the Joy Track Set, Ahluwalia collaborated with graphic designer Dennis McInnes to create a distinctive wave print inspired by West African textiles, but printed on jersey fabric for ultra comfort and a contemporary edge.
