Fashion in Motion: inspired by Balenciaga

Fashion in Motion is a series of live fashion shows hosted at the V&A featuring leading fashion designers from across the world. 'Inspired by Balenciaga' showcased a unique collection created by Central Saint Martins BA Fashion Design Womenswear and BA Fashion Print students, in response to the archives of the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria, Spain.

Famed for his exquisite craftmanship and innovative designs, Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga was known as 'the master' of haute-couture. Drawing inspiration from the archives of the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, the students explored Balenciaga's pioneering use of fabrics, revolutionary shapes and exquisite attention to detail. Their creations were worn by 15 models who paraded through the V&A galleries, meeting at the imposing Raphael Gallery where visitors had the chance to see the designs up close and speak to the students about their work.
