Find out more about V&A East Museum

A powerhouse for innovation, creativity and learning located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, V&A East Museum is a new kind of museum: five floors exploring how creativity changes the world, rooted in the communities and voices that are shaping global culture right now.

Designed by O'Donnell + Tuomey, with our free permanent Why We Make galleries created by JA Projects in collaboration with the V&A East Youth Collective, the building itself is a story of co-creation. Inside, over 500 objects spanning centuries and cultures place works by Leigh Bowery and Althea McNish in direct conversation with new east London acquisitions — past and present, local and global.

Our first landmark exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story, traces British culture through Black British music from 1900 to now - featuring personal objects from Little Simz, JME and Joan Armatrading, and powerful photography from Jennie Baptiste, Eddie Otchere, Dennis Morris and more.

Plus a café by Jikoni, the restaurant group celebrated for cooking without borders.
