This discussion will explore how to build a career in costume design, from getting started to exploring the skills and knowledge needed by contemporary designers in order to sustain a career in a challenging industry.

This event is hosted and co-produced by the V&A Youth Collective.

Luca Bosani (b.1990; they/them, he/him) is a multimedia artist who specialises in wearable art and performance. They are the Victoria & Museum x Adobe artist-in-residence in Costume Design, where they are researching the history of heels and platform shoes. In 2025 their research will culminate in a post-gender interactive installation and series of performances that will be on view in the South Kensington Museum main galleries.

Sophia Denny, Costume Maker

Sophia tells stories through fabric. She is a costume maker for film, TV and theatre - passionate about bringing characters to life through the magic of sewing. With a multidisciplinary background in design, bespoke tailoring, and fine art, Sophia approaches costume creation with a blend of creativity and technical expertise.

Her work has graced the screens of shows like the upcoming Wicked films (Universal), Matilda (Netflix), and Silo (Apple TV) to name a few. Beyond these collaborative projects, Sophia also enjoys self-directed sewing adventures, constantly honing her skills and exploring new techniques.
