This discussion will explore how to get started and establish yourself as a professional designer. From the skills and knowledge needed to work as a designer to what the role of a present day and future set designer looks like.

Tallulah is an emerging performance designer based in London, recent graduate of The Liverpool Institute for Performing arts and 2023 recipient of The Linbury prize for Stage Design. With a keen interest in exploring and pushing the boundaries of space, Tallulah is passionate about creating visually compelling art that challenges audiences and furthers storytelling.

Debbie Duru is a designer for performance spaces.

Imy Wyatt Corner is a theatre director from London who trained on the Drama Directing MA at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She is currently an Artistic Associate at Arcola Theatre and was a Creative Associate at Jermyn Street Theatre from 2022-3. Last year, she co-directed BEASTS or why girls shouldn’t fear the dark, which was awarded a Scotsman Fringe First at Edinburgh Fringe. Other directing includes The Last One (Arcola Theatre), Passing (Park Theatre), Duck (Arcola Theatre, Jermyn Street Theatre), Scarlet Sunday (Omnibus Theatre), Snail (Vault Festival), Humane (Pleasance Theatre), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (The Grove DIY Skatepark), Gaslight (Playground Theatre), Baby, What Blessings (Theatre503, Bunker Theatre), Walk Swiftly & With Purpose (Theatre503, North Wall Arts Centre) and Happy Yet?
