Members' Tour: Global Connections - West Asia, North Africa and Venice.
Through the V&A’s permanent collections in the Medieval and Renaissance Gallery and the Jameel Gallery, enjoy a historic overview of the connections between Venice and the Muslim World.
Exploring exquisite objects, we will see how diplomatic, commercial and aesthetic connectedness flourished over centuries. This mutual appreciation between various material cultures and artistic traditions and techniques will be showcased through beautiful examples of glassware, luxury textiles, carpets and ceramics throughout the two galleries.
We will come to understand that the relationship between the two regions was highly nuanced and, more importantly, contrary to the long-held popular misperceptions of discord and hostility.
