Taking influences from sources as diverse as Victorian history and culture, through the series ‘Black Butler’, and Western superhero genres, the Japanese tradition of manga has become a globally popular cultural export in recent years. Join us as we explore the history and origins of manga through ‘The God of modern manga’ Osamu Tezuka's classic work ‘Astro Boy’ and draw parallels between the modern cultural phenomenon of Dragon Ball and 16th-century Chinese classic ‘Journey to the West’.
