In January 1537 Cosimo was elected ruler of Florence after the assassination of his cousin and predecessor Alessandro de Medici. Against expectations he successfully won over the Florentine populace and became Grand Duke of Tuscany. As hereditary rulers of Florence and Tuscany, Cosimo and his heirs saw to it that their legacy of achievements, fame and power would have a lasting impact on European culture. This is their story.

This special event will consist of two gallery tours and two up close sessions focusing on the V&A’s collection of Medici prints and Medici porcelain. A light lunch and refreshments are included during the break. Please note this tour includes extensive walking and stairs, please contact the Membership Events team directly with any questions about accessibility. Membershipevents@vam.ac.uk
