From wedding rings to friendship bracelets, jewellery that evokes powerful memories has an almost talismanic importance to the wearer. Working creatively with data offers new ways of embedding memory into something wearable.

Over this workshop, attendees will learn how to use meaningful data as a material to inform an object’s aesthetic through finding a small dataset relating to a moment, place, or person important to them. They’ll learn how to create a custom visual system to ‘visualise’ this data in the form of a necklace or bracelet where every bead, thread and knot is embedded with memory and meaning.

All materials provided. Suitable for beginners.

Led by Stefanie Posavec, data artist and Miriam Quick, data researcher
