Renaissance Treasures of the Soulages Collection - 11 February photo

In 1855, Henry Cole heard of a famed collection of Medieval and Renaissance objects belonging to Toulouse lawyer, Jules Soulages. After surveying the collection, Cole became determined to acquire it for his museum and for the nation. Its purchase would take 10 years and all of Cole's unbending determination. From objects associated with the notorious Lucrezia Borgia to an intriguing 16th century Flemish tapestry, learn more about the fascinating collection which contained so many treasures on this Members-only tour.
