Families will be welcome to explore the tactility of textiles in this immersive and sensory installation in The Shed. Surrounded by low ambient sounds and colour changing LED lights, you will be welcomed to explore the different textile techniques used to create the space. We welcome you into the space to calm down, relax and let your imagination flow. There will be two sessions, the morning will be part of our SEND Play programme, and the afternoon open to families with children of all ages.
 
Alongside the installation there will be den building activity with textiles techniques such as knotting, weaving and wrapping . Explore textiles and textile processes and join us an open-ended exploration where there are no wrong answers. Please see below who can come to the two time slots available. 

10.30 - 12.00:  Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families, SEND Play workshop 10.30-12.00 will run alongside the installation.

13.30 - 15.30: Families (All ages) Please note that we will restrict numbers in the installation and queuing timed visits may be necessary if it gets busy.

Amanda Vesthardt is the current Designer in The Shed, she has developed this installation during her 6-month placement. With a background in fashion, costume, and textile design, Amanda works with textiles related to the body and spatially. Her project focuses on sustainable textile practices, using recycled materials and leftover (deadstock) fabrics found locally.
