Bethnal Green is full of surprises. Discover the home of a famous eighteenth-century champion boxer, a treasure trove of children’s toys, an Art Deco town hall now a luxury hotel and a host of social housing styles. The tour continues to poignant memorials of both World Wars and a Buddhist centre housed in a disused fire station while you learn about the stories of Israel Zangwill (called by many “the Jewish Dickens”).
