Step into the fantasy world of Jean Cocteau with a special screening of La Belle et la Bête (1946), a landmark of French cinema and a luminous tribute to the transformative power of beauty, imagination, and art. Cocteau’s pioneering surrealist adaptation of the classic fairy tale blends illusion and emotion through iconic visual motifs—most notably the surreal diamond tears wept by Belle. These crystalline tears transform ordinary materials into mythic symbols and embody the emotional grandeur that Cocteau so masterfully brings to life on screen.
The evening will continue with a post film discussion and audience Q&A, followed by a three-course French themed dinner and cocktail in the Members’ Restaurant.
