This display explores Beatrix Potter’s interest in Aesop’s animal fables. From the 1890s Potter reimagined and illustrated some of the fables in her own way. She revisited some of her earlier ideas when planning stories such as "The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse", which she dedicated to ‘Aesop in the Shadows’.
