V&A Virtual Classroom: Secondary Design Thinking (Spring 2022)

Connect your class via Zoom to the V&A through live interactive sessions delivered by museum experts to bring museum objects and their stories to life virtually

In this online session, your students will have the chance to meet and work with artist, Gayle Chong Kwan, to explore her research process and through this develop their own skills and knowledge for approaching creative projects and briefs. Focusing on design process, your students will use waste materials as a starting point to prototype a design solution to a real-life problem.

By the end of the session your students will have:
-Explored the research process of a professional artist
-Examined how to use museum objects / collections as inspiration in design projects
-Taken part in activities to develop research skills

All Virtual Classroom sessions are booked via the V&A website - click on the 'BOOK NOW' on this page to place your booking. Payment is taken online at point of booking. Please book with your school email. A minimum of 3 weeks’ notice is required, however, we advise booking as early as possible in order to ensure you get your preferred session, timeslot and date. (We do not accept bookings from third party providers.)

Once booked, you will receive an automated email to confirm that we have received your booking. This email will include the document, 'V&A Virtual Classroom – Essential Information' with a Microsoft Form. Please ensure that you read and complete the Microsoft Form with essential information we require about your class at least 2 weeks before the date of your session.

You will then be contacted by a member of the Schools & Colleges Team with your Zoom link to join the session, list of materials to prep in advance of the session and any supporting information.

Useful Info:
The session is exclusively for your class. We can accommodate only one class for each session. The minimum number of students per session is 10. The maximum number for Secondary is 25 students.

V&A Virtual Classroom sessions are only open to UK schools. International schools can sign up to our e-newsletter for more information on upcoming programmes. Regrettably we will have to cancel any sessions that have been booked by non-UK schools and the sessions will be made available online for other schools to book.

Sessions cancelled within two weeks of the session date are non-refundable.
