Members' Tour: Beyond Reality: The Surrealist’s Imagination photo
Surrealism, officially established by Andre Bretton in Paris in 1924, is one of the most influential and enduring artistic movements of the 20th century. But when it was first exhibited in London in 1936, some of the bemused critics declared it “A travesty of everything that is decent”.
A dog crying golden tears,
Alice trapped in a glass bottle,
Narcissus transformed into a mirror so he can look at himself for eternity
are some of the weird and wonderful objects to explore with V&A Guide Mina Renton. You can then decide for yourself if the critics were right.

Tour end times are approximate and may vary to what is shown. Optional light refreshments will be served. after the tour in the Members' Restaurant.
