Elite women of the Mughal court lived in palaces or encampments concealed from public gaze. The important role they played in social, political and artistic spheres has received some scholarly attention, but little study has been made of their physical living quarters. Join Dr Mehreen Chida-Razvi, Art & Architectural Historian, for this lecture which examines surviving palace complexes and contemporary paintings to shed new light on the hidden world of the zenana in the late 16th and 17th centuries.
