Jazz in the Cafe - Descendants: From Gannibal to Pushkin

‘Descendants’ describes lives defined by migration, in particular Abram Petrovich Gannibal (1696 – 1781), and Alexander Pushkin (1799 – 1837). Gannibal was an Eritrean princeling enslaved by the Russian Tsar Peter the Great. He later rose to the rank of major general, and later superintendent of Reval (now Tallinn, Estonia), and is perhaps best known as the great grandfather of the celebrated Russian literary genius Alexander Pushkin.
