Innovate: Identity Making and Art Making with Jasleen Kaur photo

Jasleen Kaur is an artist based in London. Her work is an ongoing exploration into the malleability of culture and the layering of social histories within the material and immaterial things that surround us. Her practice examines diasporic identity and hierarchies of history, both colonial and personal. She works with sculpture, video and writing.

In this talk Jasleen will share insights into her practice, including the design of the Tala Curry Measure, creating hybrid objects in her Tools for Living series, and Everyday Resistance, a project working with children and mothers from the Portman Early Childhood Centre, using cooking and eating together to reconsider and respond to issues facing the local community.

V&A Innovate is an online resource hub, online teacher CPD programme, and National Schools Challenge for Key Stage 3. Free. Booking essential. Event suitable for Secondary School teachers. You must be over 18 to take part. This event will be run using streaming platform Zoom, and after registering, you will receive a unique link in advance to access the event online.
