In Focus Tour: Through the Victorian Eye photo

Looking through the peephole into its expanded, accordion-style body, one could feast the eyes with miniaturised spectacles or exotic places of the Victorian age. Focusing mainly on the Gestetner Collection of Paper Peepshows recently acquired by the V&A, this talk takes Bailey Rawlin’s Expanding View of the Great Exhibition as its starting point. You will also discover the peepshow's connection to print media, and its relationship with competing media including the panorama and the stereoscope.
