This study day will bring together the expertise of V&A curators, with writers, designers, and researchers reflecting on centuries of male style, from samurais to tailoring and male fashion now.

Explore trends in European and British male fashions from 16th century portraits to 18th century pieces in the V&A collection. Listen to Anna Jackson keeper of the Department of Asia and author of Kimono: the art and evolution of Japanese fashion, discussing male kimono of the Edo period in Japan. Mark Powell described as 'an artist with a needle and thread' will be in conversation with Paul Gorman discussing his unique approaching to tailoring, 'where Saville Row meets street style' and his clients ranging from David Bowie to Bradley Wiggins.
