Explore the world of roots and soil through building sculptures with your family
Have you ever thought about the hidden world beneath our feet?
What if there were secret messages passed between plants through their roots?
Could there be tiny creatures building homes and cities in an underground world?
What's really going on down there? Is there a whole hidden world bigger and busier than anything you can see above ground?
Get curious about the magic happening under all plants that make our gardens grow.

Step into the Magic Garden, where roots weave, mushrooms bloom, and the soil quietly works its magic.
Be inspired by wriggly creatures, connecting roots, and more to create your own large sculptures inspired by nature, using recycled and reused materials.
Build tall twisting root sculptures using tubes and paper. Build huge seeds, worm tunnels and the roots of mushrooms using thread or fabric and don't forget to add in sculptures of bugs that live in the soil.
You’ll get to work with Adobe Creative Resident, Emily Stapleton-Jefferis who will help you to create sculptures that are about the building blocks of nature.
Like a root system, your artwork will grow over the day as your sculpture connects to other families' creations.

Breastfeeding & Baby Changing - Breastfeeding is welcome throughout the V&A. Quiet spaces are available for those who prefer privacy. Baby changing facilities are available in most toilets.
Buggy Park - There are main buggy park areas near Cromwell Road entrance and the cloakroom near Exhibition Road entrance. Ask a member of staff to direct you to a buggy park.
