Be inspired by the extravagant designs of Elsa Schiaparelli and create your own mini collection in this fashion illustration workshop. You will begin by reflecting on favourite pieces from the exhibition, then build a mood board using exhibition inspiration and magazines to explore colour, texture, symbols, and motifs, developing experimental patterns and initial garment ideas.
Guided by illustrator and designer Raafaye Ali, you will work with prepared fashion figure templates to experiment with garment silhouettes and details, then refine your earlier patterns and designs onto the garments while developing your personal interpretation and design style. Using watercolour pencils and water brushes, you will layer colour and texture to bring your illustrations to life, shaping a small lookbook style collection before refining one final garment onto art paper or an A5 postcard to share in a short group crit.
Suitable for all levels, no prior illustration or watercolour experience is needed. To get the most from the session, we encourage you to visit the exhibition beforehand for inspiration
