Onsite Talk: Diana Markosian: Santa Barbara photo

Photographer and filmmaker Diana Markosian is known for her style of mixing documentary and conceptual practices to blur the lines between reality and fiction. This can be seen especially in her first monograph, the award-winning Santa Barbara, a photographic recreation of her family’s journey from post-soviet Russia to the U.S. in the 1990s. Join her in conversation with the V&A’s Fiona Rogers, the Parasol Foundation Curator of Women in Photography for a screening of the short associated film of this seminal work, followed by discussion of this as well as her broader career, approach and inspirations.
