The beginning of a quartet of novels spanning three hundred years of history and travelling the globe, the story starts in South Africa where Huguenot refugees were part of the beginning of viticulture in the Cape. Using V&A collections, the discussion will illustrate the author’s brilliant evocation of place, from 16th century Languedoc to Paris, from 17th century Amsterdam to 19th century Franschhoek.
This talk is open for priority booking for Members; general booking will open Monday 14 February.
STAYING SAFE
The V&A has put numerous health and safety measures in place to ensure the museum is a safe, relaxing and inspiring place for our patrons and visitors. We have taken steps to ensure that all V&A sites are reasonably COVID-19 secure with cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures in line with guidance. Hand sanitiser will be available, and face coverings are recommended. Depending on regulations at the time of the event, some may choose not to wear face coverings, so please take this into account when deciding to book. A level of social distancing will be maintained, including limiting capacity in the Lecture Theatre.
