English Embroidery: Jacobean Blackwork

Join Ornamental Embroidery tutors Lynn Hulse and Nicola Jarvis for a practical two-day workshop. On day one you will get the chance to explore objects in the V&A collection with a visit to the Clothworkers Centre at Blythe House. After being introduced to the history of Jacobean Embroidery, you will be guided through stitching your own piece. You will then work to perfect your design, inspired by scrolling flowers and leaves in the style of early 17th century blackwork. The project will be completed in silk thread on a linen ground, specially handwoven for the workshop.
