In Focus Tour: Blanc de Chine, a Continuous Conversation

The story of porcelain-making in Dehua needs retelling

  • Meeting Point, Grand Entrance, V&A South Kensington

  • Free event

This guided tour will build a bridge between the past and the current, tradition and innovation of Chinese and non-Chinese ceramic practices. Marvel at historic pieces from the V&A’s ceramics collections, as well as a selection of new works by contemporary makers including: Babs Haenen, Lucille Lewin, Liang Wanying, Jeffry Mitchell, Su Xianzhong, and Peter Ting. You will first be introduced to the influence and lineage of porcelain production at Dehua, before then moving on to the contemporary, reflecting on the history, whiteness and sculptural sensibilities of Dehua white porcelain.
