Widely acknowledged as a landmark in science-fiction cinema, ‘Things to Come’ is a visually sweeping sci-fi classic full of futuristic vistas and modern cityscapes, based on the story by H.G. Wells. Beginning with a decades-long global war and travelling to a scientific utopia in 2036, this journey predicts a host of modernities over a century of turmoil and progress. Join us for a screening of this cinematic classic followed by a Q&A with writer, broadcaster and presenter of BBC’s 'Sound of Cinema' Matthew Sweet and V&A Curator of Theatre and Screen Arts Keith Lodwick. Follow the screening with a specially created, three-course meal in the Members’ Room that will take you on a journey from 1940 to 2040, encompassing the past, present and future of food.
