This post refers to a previous iteration of the V&A digital map. You can read about our latest work on the map or go straight to the map to explore.

We are very excited to launch our brand new digital interactive map, designed to help you to discover the many treasures in the beautiful V&A galleries.

Simple to use, the V&A digital map allows you to explore the V&A’s galleries and objects wherever you are. It works on all screen sizes, from your tablet or smartphone to your desktop at home.

Search for specific rooms or objects, or simply browse the Museum galleries floor by floor.

Selecting a room will provide you with more than just its location – the interactive map will also reveal objects that can be found in that room, along with in-depth object details from Search the Collections.

The map also clearly displays essential facilities such as stairs, lifts, toilets, shops and the V&A Café. If you would like to know what’s on at the Museum, the interactive map enables you to see the locations and times of all of our current exhibitions, displays, events, lectures, talks and tours.

The V&A Digital Map is a beta version. It is fully functioning but new features may be added and its appearance may change slightly as it is being enhanced. Some features may not work on older browsers.

Feedback on digital map

I love the V&A, I often visit, and I just tried to use your ‘digital map’ to show someone the way around. I cannot get the digital map to work at all.
I tried it on Firefox. Internet explorer and Chrome on a Windows PC without success.
I have also tried using the Android browser and also Chrome on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
I don’t have a Mac or ipad so could not try those, but then most of the population don’t have them either.

Nothing happens on any of the browsers, simply a blank screen with “V&A” and a large search/menu block at the top left hand corner. Nothing else happens no matter what is clicked or touched.
I notice that the map was ‘Published October 7, 2013’ – rather a long time ago.
I’d be only too happy to beta test your software, but if it does not work then please please remove it. Otherwise it lets the V&A down.

Regards

Keith Wilkinson

I’m using Safari on an iMac (OS X= Mountain Lion). The map is semi-functional; immediate problems are that the display listing extends below the bottom of my screen, but scrolling is not enabled. If I try to reduce the font size (Command-minus) in the listing in order to get it on-screen, the whole list just disappears.

The first thing I need to know is where best to arrange to meet someone. I see no cafe on the map, don’t know if there are seats in the entrance hall if one person arrives before the other, and don’t know how the map in four parts which shows loos relates to the main map. All not immediately helpful.

Almost four years after its creation, and the map still doesn’t work on any of my home computers, or indeed any of the ones at my place of work. I’m planning a school trip and I want to find out how the education rooms relate to the British Galleries as the time my group can spend there is limited. The downloadable map isn’t very clear about this. I’ve tried Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge, all to no avail. Has the V & A bothered to read any of the feedback about it? No help page or anything. Really disappointed. Doesn’t reflect well on them at all I’m afraid to say.

Saturday Feb 20 2017. Trying to work out a route for visit with university students and the map doesn’t wok. Trying to access it I get ‘ bad gateway’ and nothing. Why not just a simple layout and forget the fancy stuff that doesn’t work.

….and it STILL doesn’t work …….
