Eileen Agar

"My sparkling friend who brings the colour of dreams to all she sees beyond the cursed walls".
Paul Éluard, poet
Eileen Agar (1899 – 1991) was an Argentinian-born British artist with a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, the everyday into the irreverent. The V&A collection contains examples of her work across different media, and furniture from her home in London's Earl's Court.

Agar was associated with British Surrealism in the 1930s and was friends with artists and writers based in London and Paris, including Lee Miller and Pablo Picasso.
