Actions you can take to stay safe in hot weather

Heatwaves are becoming more frequent making it increasingly important for all of us to take a few extra steps to protect our health and wellbeing.
  • There is no air-conditioning in the National Art Library.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and avoid caffeinated drinks. Water is allowed in the National Art Library
  • Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and what to do if you or someone else has them
  • Try to avoid direct sunlight, especially between 11:00 and 15:00 when UV levels are highest
  • If you are going out during this time, cover up with suitable clothing, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, seek shade and apply sunscreen liberally and re-apply frequently
