Gilbert Galleries: access guide

Sir Arthur and Rosalinde Gilbert formed one of the world’s most outstanding private collections of decorative arts, comprising glass and stone mosaics, portrait enamels, gold boxes and silver.

Meant ‘for everyone’, the V&A has been the home of the collection since 2008. The Gilbert Galleries showcases Arthur and Rosalinde’s lifelong passion for craftsmanship, and their belief that art and beauty should be shared widely with the public.

Seven permanent galleries explore craft skills and techniques, material culture and the history of collecting. Each object reveals captivating stories about its makers, past owners and the context in which it was created. Multisensory experiences bring the collection to life through touch, scent, sound and video.

These resources have been designed to support your visit to the galleries and are available both online and in the galleries.
