LCF/V&A MA Fashion Storytelling

Launching in September 2027, LCF/V&A MA Fashion Storytelling is an exciting collaboration between London College of Fashion and the V&A. It brings together two world-leading institutions for the research, study and curation of fashion.

Through specialist teaching and sustained access to the V&A collections, including those not currently on display in the V&A’s galleries, displays and exhibitions, this course will provide an intellectual framework to consider the active role played by academics, curators and museum professionals in the exploration of the deep connection between fashion cultures and the stories that they tell.

The course has two pathways: Fashion Cultures and Histories will equip you with high-level theoretical analysis and research skills for a diverse range of professional and academic contexts. Fashion Curation will provide an understanding of the skills and knowledge curators draw upon for roles in the museum and cultural sector.

Who are we?

The V&A is a family of museums with one of the largest and most comprehensive collection of dress in the world. With our mission to champion design and creativity in all its forms, this collection spreads across different departments, including Fashion and Textiles, Theatre and Performance, Asia, Photography, Art, Architecture and Design, and different museum sites, including Young V&A, V&A East Storehouse and V&A East Museum.

Each department curates and produces displays and exhibitions, publishes books and develops new permanent galleries, celebrating the wealth and diversity of artistic creativity.

Led by the V&A Research Institute and drawing on expertise from across the V&A’s family of sites, MA Fashion Storytelling will provide students with the opportunity to be part of a dynamic research culture that provides unique insights into the role of the museum in shaping fashion narratives.
