The vintage knitting patterns in our archives aren't all about bonnets, socks and jumpers – a significant amount offer designs for homewares such as sofa backs, tea cosies, doilies and tableware. So, once you've kitted out your friends and family, why not get started on projects for your home!

Egg cosies

Slightly cheating here with a crochet pattern but we couldn't resist including these adorable vintage egg cosies from our archives! With endless facial feature possibilities, you might find yourself amongst a crowd at breakfast.

Suggested yarn: 1 ounce Copley's 4-ply 'Excelsior' wool, Daffodil No. 90. 1 ounce Copley's 4-ply 'Excelsior' fingering, White.
Needle size:
1 No. 13 'Stratnoid' crochet hook
Additional materials:
A small quantity of contrasting coloured wools for the embroidery.
Measurements: Length, 2½ inches. Width all round at lower edge, 5½ inches.
Tension: Work to produce 8 d.c. to 1 inch.
