'Lady's' hats
Copley's Leaflet No. 1260 offers two hat patterns in different wools. 'Excelsior' in angora wool will work hard to keep even the most unruly mullet both tidy and warm, while 'Cryscelle' offers a little embellishment with the addition of an oversized knitted bow. Which will you choose?
Design No. 1 – 'Excelsior' hat
Suggested yarn: 8 – 9 ¼-ounce balls of Copley's 'Excelsior' angora. NB Owing to the comparatively short length of yarn in a ball of angora, the SLIGHTEST variation in tension affects the quantity of yarn used. The quantity specified is therefore only approximate, and it is advisable to purchase the greater amount stated.
Needle size: 1 No. 10 'Stratnoid' crochet hook.
Tension: Work to produce 7 'clusters' to 3 inches in width.
Design No. 2 – 'Cryscelle' hat
Suggested yarn: 3 ozs Copley's 'Cryscelle' Jubilee Blue No. 1023, 1 oz Copley's 'Cryscelle' Navy No. 85.
Needle size: 1 pair No. 9 'Coploid' knitting needles, 1 pair No. 10 'Coploid' knitting needles
Tension: Using No. 10 needles and double yarn, work to produce 6½ sts. and 8½ rows to one square inch in smooth fabric (1 row K., one row P.)
